Welcome to BMR's Home Page

The Railway

Come and vist our 8 1/4" gauge railway, the line lies alongside the river Itchen and its navigation with views across its meadows. Our loco Carolyn is thought to be the only of its gauge and was built in the 1924 and still going strong with the power to pull a full train of adults, yet small enough to delight the children. On your visit our friendly staff will always have time to talk about all aspects of the railway and future plans.

Other Attractions

Brambridge Garden Centre next door is worth a visit, with The Country House restaurant. There are riverside walks alongside the Itchen and its navigation, also there is the nature trail which runs through the copse, then alongside the railway and back across the meadow finishing at the picnic area next to our station.

We are open bank holidays too

The railway runs from Easter till the end of October,

we then run for a period at Christmas

Fares

50p a trip

(We are a non-profit making so all profits we make go to charity)

The 'Locos'

Carolyn
Our only working locomotive at the moment she is a side tank locomotive built in the 1930's and still working hard for us, soon to be going for a major overhaul.

1369
Our latest project a GWR panier tank locomotive, currently under construction she is a 7 1/4" gauge locomotive. Her frames were built by a friend of ours Jesse Moody.

4-4-2 Atlantic Loco
A 4 /34" gauge locomotive, currently awaiting attention in need of full restoration.

2-6-0 'Black 5'
A 3 1/2" Gauge loco currently being repaired

Infrastructure

We have plans to put an extra line in to be able to run 7 1/4" guage locomotives which would give us greater flexability of inviting guest locomotives to our line.
